Fretwork

The frets are the key to the comfort and the tone of every guitar.

Even microscopic unevenness causes buzzing, and partially loose fret seating causes so-called wolf notes and problems with string sustain. We carry out precise levelling and crowning of the frets, restoring their ideal semi-circular shape. We remove sharp, snagging fret ends that hurt your hands while playing. Fret levelling is done under constant tension using the Erlewine Neck Jig system by StewMac, proven worldwide, thanks to which the plane of the fret crowns is reproduced with the neck bent exactly as it is in normal use. This eliminates the problem of the neck bending unevenly under string tension. Where necessary we offer a full refret, in stainless steel or traditional alloy, with prior levelling of the fretboard geometry itself and, if needed, refinishing it.

What the service includes:

  • Levelling, crowning and polishing the frets
  • Full refret
  • Rounding off sharp fret ends
  • Levelling and finishing the fretboard
